SHIVTI- Chananya Rotenberg ft. Abie Rotenberg & Baruch Levine- Composed & Written by Chananya Rotenberg- War on Gravity

VERSE 1:
It was the dawn of an age of glory and light
We lived in our land and ruled it with might,
Triumphant in war, blessed with power and wealth
The pride of all nations – was Am Yisrael.

Yet Dovid Hamelech, ever righteous and strong
Called out to Hashem in prayer and song,
‘Though I sit on this throne You’ve bestowed upon me
There is another place where I’d rather be’.

CHORUS 1:

VERSE 2:
He owns a small shop at the end of the road
Selling trinkets for pennies to people that he knows,
Not for riches or fame, he earns what he needs
For back home are wide eyes and small mouths to feed.

And now his store’s empty, yet rather than mourn
He opens a Sefer, the pages yellowed and worn,
A smile lights his face, he’s in bliss as he reads
For there is no other place where he’d rather be.

CHORUS 2:
(x2)

VERSE 3:
And I like most others, it seems my fate
Endless hours of work from morning ‘til late,
Yet growing inside becoming hard to ignore
Is the unshakeable feeling that there is much more.

But perhaps if I pray to our Father on High
גַל עֵינַי וְאַבִּיטָה – please open my eyes,
A spark will ignite even deep within me
That there is another place where I’d rather be.

CHORUS 3:
(x2-4)
