LYRIC

PENNY- 8th Day- Composed by Shmuli Marcus- Tracht Gut

Standing at the gate of Egypt
Watching the waves on the sea
Camped at the foot of the mountain
Waiting for the milk and honey.

I know you are wonderin’
What word will end the rhyme
When will the world spin my way
How much longer till the end of time.

I know you are wonderin’
What do I ask of Moses
What can Earth offer Heaven
What can a pawn give to the King of kings?

I don’t need your diamond
I don’t need your gold
I don’t need your fancy dreams
I don’t need your stories told.

All I need is one penny of your love
One penny of fire
One penny of simple faith
All I need- is the penny of redemption.

Standing at the gate of my city
Canopies are blowing in the wind
A thousand trumpets stand together
Open for the dancing to begin.

I know it’ll happen
You’ll be comin’ through the flame
Comin’ from the ashes of a good time
Comin’ home to praise my name.

I know it’ll happen
For somewhere in your heart
A child is holding a penny
The penny of redemption.

I don’t need your queens
I don’t need your aces
I don’t need your tears at night
I don’t need your painted faces.

All I need is one penny of your love
One penny of fire
One penny of simple faith
All I need- is the penny of redemption.
