LYRIC

GENERATIONS- Shua Kessin- Composed By Country Yossi Toiv- Lo Lehitya’esh

Etched in stone, within my mind, the image still lives on,
A yid wrapped in his Talis, with his Tefillin on his arm,
Surrounded by armed soldiers, their laughter loud and shrill,
And I can hear them laughing still.

CHORUS:
Zaidy, I remember you,
The words you said, the things you’d do,
Memories that never fade away.
And though your loving touch is gone,
The meaning of your life lives on,
Zaidy, I remember you today.

Late at night by candlelight, my Zaidy sat and learned.
Once holy flames of Torah danced, then other fires burned.
Now all that’s left is a Yahrtzeit glass upon my window sill,
And I can hear him learning still.

CHORUS:
Zaidy, I remember you,
The words you said, the things you’d do,
Memories that never fade away.
And though your loving touch is gone,
The meaning of your life lives on,
Zaidy, I remember you today.
(x2)

Now flowers grow in Buchenwald, I pick one and I cry.
My tears fall to the hallowed ground where other Zaidys lie.
They broke and burned their bodies but they could not crush their will,
And I can hear their Ani Maamin still!

(…אֲנִי מַאֲמִין)

CHORUS:
Zaidy, I remember you,
The words you said, the things you’d do,
Memories that never fade away.
And though your loving touch is gone,
The meaning of your life lives on,
Zaidy, I remember you today.

CHORUS 2:
Zaidy, I remember you,
My children, they remember too,
Your legacy lives on in them each day,
No longer do we we have to mourn
For generations yet unborn
Your memory will never fade away.
Yes, Am Yisrael still lives on, today!
Yes, we still live on today!
