Ishay Ribo was born and raised in Marseilles, France. At the age of eight and a half he immigrated with his family to Israel. At first, the family lived in Kfar Adumim, and after six years the family moved to Tel Zion. Yishai was educated in ultra-Orthodox institutions and attended a yeshiva for immigrants from France in Jerusalem.

At the age of 13 he began to write songs, compose and record them at home. At the age of 18 he began to learn to play guitar. He established with his friends the Tachlas band which performed Jewish rock metal. He served in the Armament Corps in the framework of Netzach Yehuda. After a year and four months he moved to the military rabbinate band after a special request by Shai Abramson, the chief military cantor. He began working on his first album during his military service.

After his marriage he went to study at the Ziv Midrasha, including musicians in Shaarei Chesed, Jerusalem.

In 2012 he wrote and composed the song “As in the Beginning” for Gad Elbaz. Later in the year, Ishay was the first religious singer to take part in Idan Raichel’s project, when he performed the song “Or Kach” in the album “A Quarter to Six”.

In 2013 he won with his song “Kol Dodi” in second place in the ranking of judges in the festival of song and chorus.

In his debut album, “Tocho Ratzuf Ahava,” he directed his debut album, Daniel Zamir and Yonatan Razel, in a new edition with the song “The Seven”, which he sang together with the Jerusalem Yeshiva Choir for young people , And sang the song “Chadesh Sesoni” on the album “Simchat Olam”, which combines songs composed by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginzburg and sang two songs in the album “Ahakha Lu” (Songs for the Holocaust).

His song “Kol Dodi” won first place in the annual charts of Radio Gali Israel and Radio Kol Chai. In addition, he participated in the song “Ptach Lib’cha” produced by David Daor, written and composed in memory of the three kidnapped boys.

Ribo writes and composes songs for other singers such as Gad Elbaz, Avraham Fried, Meidad Tasa, Peer Tassi and others.

Ribo also participated in the first “Tzamah” project, where he sang “Darkecha”, in the second project, “Tzamah 2”, and “Vaharikosi” and in the third project, Tzama 3, “Yemin Hashem”, and in the fourth project, “Sheyiboneh”, which are actually the melodies of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the author of the Tanya, the Rebbe Tzemach Tzedek, respectively.

In October 2015 he released his first single from his second album, “Miksha Achat Zahav,” which he wrote about the birth of his son. In March 2016 he released his second album “Pachad Gvohim”. The album won a gold album. That same year he was invited to the album of Shlomo Artzi “Katzfat” and sang the song “The Truth” in a duet with Artzi. In February 2018 released his third album “Shetach Afor”.

In 2017 he sang at the torchlighting ceremony.

At the age of 23, he married Yael Tunik. They have three children and live in Jerusalem.
