SUMMERTIME FUN- Sung & Composed By Abie Rotenberg & Yossi Green- A Time For Music (HASC) 15

When I sent in my application
To give a job at Camp HASC a try,
They wrote me back, congratulations,
I didn’t know to laugh or to cry.

Am I crazy? Why’d I take it?
Summer is a time to have fun…
There’s no way I’m, gonna make it,
Gevalt, I can’t believe what I’ve done.

CHORUS:
We could be spending the summer,
Lazing around,
At the ballpark, the mall, or in the pool,
Or picking up some credits
That’ll save us down the road,
By taking a few courses at summer school…
We could be working to make money,
With an easy job or two,
The cash might come in handy someday,
Or better yet, traveling, somewhere out of town,
To Europe, the rockies… or L.A.

Gotta tell you, it’s amazing,
I’m working harder than I’ve ever worked before,
But the truth is, I’m not complaining,
I may be giving, but I’m getting so much more.

I’m so busy, don’t get to sleep much,
How I wish that I could lay down for a while,
But whenever I feel her touch,
I’ll do anything I can to see her smile.

You might think, it gets depressing,
Seeing how he struggles to get by,
But he’s taught me, life’s a blessing,
To be cherished every minute of our lives.

It’s astounding, hard to fathom,
She’s demanding from the moment each day starts,
Who would ever, have imagined,
I’d end up loving her will my heart.

CHORUS:
We could be spending the summer,
Lazing around,
At the ballpark, the mall, or in the pool,
Or picking up some credits
That’ll save us down the road,
By taking a few courses at summer school…
We could be working to make money,
With an easy job or two,
The cash might come in handy someday,
Or better yet, traveling, somewhere out of town,
To Europe, the rockies… or L.A.

It’s been quite, a revelation,
To be needed and looked up to, endlessly,
And I have new, admiration,
For my parents, and the love they’ve given me.

And I Daven with conviction,
If but the love and Chesed lived at HASC each day,
Could be practiced, by all Yidden,
Then Moshiach would no doubt, be on his way.

(INSTRUMENTAL CHORUS)
We could be spending the summer,
Lazing around,
At the ballpark, the mall, or in the pool,
Or picking up some credits
That’ll save us down the road,
By taking a few courses at summer school…
We could be working to make money,
With an easy job or two,
The cash might come in handy someday,
Or better yet, traveling, somewhere out of town,
To Europe, the rockies… or L.A.

Now the summer, is behind us,
Long warm days replaced with winter’s cold,
And no one, need remind us,
Of the gaping void we fill deep within our souls.

So we call them them, and we write them,
Staying close throughout the year without a fuss,
And although it, may delight them,
We need them, just as much, as they need us.

CHORUS 2:
So we’ll be spending next summer,
Back at Camp HASC,
There is no place that we would rather be,
More than likely working 20 hours every day,
A Mitzvah every minute, is guaranteed…
And if you’ll come and visit,
This most special place,
You’ll see that words can’t measure its worth,
And you’ll understand,
How very lucky we all are,
Spending summers here in Heaven… on Earth.
