SHALOM BER- Country Yossi- Breakout
(Parody Of “Running Bear”- Johnny Preston- Composed By Jiles Perry Richardson)

Shalom Ber, came to Yeshiva
From a country, far away.
He was shy ‘cause he looked different
And didn’t know, the games we’d play.
In broken English, he’d try speaking
But we pretended, not to hear.
And so we played, with each other
But no one played with Shalom Ber.

CHORUS:
Oh, Shalom Ber, so sad and lonely,
His aching heart, broke more each day.
Oh, Shalom Ber, if he could play,
Have a friend, with whom to play.

One summers’ day, the Rebbe took us
To the river, for a swim.
We all were laughing, in the water
But Shalom Ber, wouldn’t come in.
All of a sudden, a clap of thunder
The rains came pouring, two boys went down.
And though we tried, we couldn’t reach them
We were sure that they would drown.

CHORUS:
Oh, Shalom Ber, so sad and lonely,
His aching heart, broke more each day.
Oh, Shalom Ber, if he could play,
Have a friend, with whom to play.

Just when we thought, it was all over,
From out of nowhere, came Shalom Ber.
He quickly swam, that raging river,
Then held the children, ‘til we drew near.
Then as our hands touched, for just a moment,
He whispered softly, “Now we friends”.
Then he was pulled, beneath the waters,
And was never seen again.

CHORUS:
Oh, Shalom Ber, so sad and lonely,
His aching heart, broke more each day.
Oh, Shalom Ber, if he could play,
Have a friend, with whom to play.
