IM LO ACH’SHAV- R’ Michel Twerski- English Songs

The dark broke unto the day
I rose and made my way
To a quiet place far away from the din and roar
A tranquil little nook
Beside a little brook
Where my soul felt reborn and restored.

Oh, there I could reflect
My world to perfect
There my heart soared aloft, there it came alive
A paradise of green
I could ponder there my dreams
Ask the questions about the meaning of life.

Oh, master of us all
Don’t ignore my call
I’m really not asking much of You
It’s not a great demand
I just don’t understand
What is it You want me to do?

So many ways to go
Only You know
That which You want me to be
If only You’d appear
And tell me loud and clear
What is it that You want of me?

The sun came up so bright
Fighting off the night
So confident what its function is all about
Was jealous and it knew
Exactly what to do
No hesitation, no doubt.

Just then came into sight
A joyful bird in flight
Filling the air with melodious song
Its purpose so clear
Not an element of fear
No thought of a possible wrong.

So why is it that I
Am left to my cry
Why can I not also be sure
Of my purpose and my way
Tell me, don’t delay
If only I could feel secure.

The butterfly and bee
As everyone can see
Move about without pause or delay
But, I am left to search
For my purpose on this Earth
Dear God, won’t You show me the way?

As I sat in solitude
Seeking to be renewed
My questions came pouring out, a troubled and wiling stream
Should I define
My profession as the prime
Or should my soul be the interest supreme.

Should I spend my days in prayer
Or broken hearts repair
Pursue my pleasures or minister to the ill
Should I parent, cook and bake
Teach children to relate
Should I lead, should I follow, what’s your will?

What comes first, what comes next
Can I find it in the text
Is there somewhere to rest from the chase?
Should I falter or remain
Should I flee from my pain
Is there meaning in courage and faith?

Though I grow old, I must persist
Your inspiration to enlist
Only then will I merit a reply
Even if it’s still unknown
The quest I can’t postpone
?אִם לֹא עַכְשָׁיו, אֵימָתַי

Though I grow old, I must persist
Your inspiration to enlist
Only then will I merit a reply
Even if it’s still unknown
The quest I can’t postpone
?אִם לֹא עַכְשָׁיו, אֵימָתַי
